I will go into more depth on the subject of belts at another time. I cannot emphasise enough how important it is to have a good variety of belts in your wardrobe and to actually use them.

Belts can make a big difference to the appearance of your outfit. Just bring out your belts and experiment.

Patricia Fields, costume designer of SATC, understood that belts are not merely just a tool to hold up your pants, but also a great accessory to style outfits.

How to style your outfit with a belt?

If you wear a dress or pantsuit try playing with the belts you have. This will definitely make the outfit more interesting. Skirt and top? Add a waist belt. Play with the width of the belt. Belts make great accessories and can be really flattering to your body. Place the belt at the smallest part of your waist to accentuate your waist. You can even wear them over a dress or a shirt-dress that theoretically doesn’t need a belt. Usually the rule is that your belt and shoes should match. This helps tie the outfit together.

See this blog post to understand the difference a belt can make.

You might not think your outfit needs a belt. But just test it with a belt. It can make such a huge creative difference.
